Job summary

SIMTech in Singapore seeks a Research Engineer in the Optics and Imaging Systems Group to develop AI-based image recognition for industrial inspection. You will work with senior researchers to build robust software and deploy AI models for real-world manufacturing applications.

You will leverage PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV and robotics interfaces, contributing to real-time defect detection and quality control solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; CUDA, JS, HTML or C# advantageous.
• Strong grasp of OOP, software architecture and best practices.
• Understanding of ML/DL concepts, esp. CNNs.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX or similar AI tools.
• Knowledge of computer vision and image processing concepts.
• Experience with OpenCV, ROS, Open3D or PCL advantageous.
• Experience with Git and Docker for versioning and containerisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-based image recognition and CV modules for industrial use.
• Apply OOP and software engineering practices for maintainable code.
• Develop and integrate AI models for detection, segmentation, classification.
• Work with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT or similar tools.
• Support model design, training, evaluation and deployment.
• Integrate CV modules with imaging, robotics, sensors and equipment.
• Utilise OpenCV, ROS, Open3D or similar platforms where applicable.
• Use Git, Docker and CI/CD workflows; assist with documentation.
