Job summary

Macdermid Performance Solutions seeks an experienced HR Generalist to support employees and leaders within a global chemical organization. You will deliver end-to-end HR services across the employee lifecycle, including payroll administration, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations.

The role requires 5+ years in HR, strong knowledge of payroll controls, and the ability to navigate Singaporean and Malaysian employment laws while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
• Experience supporting or managing payroll processes and payroll controls.
• Knowledge of Singapore and Malaysia employment legislation.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary contact for HR policies, payroll, and employment-related matters.
• Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle: onboarding, probation, contracts, transfers, changes, offboarding.
• Coordinate monthly payroll activities with providers or shared service teams.
• Validate payroll inputs: hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, leave, deductions.
• Support employee inquiries related to payroll, compensation, benefits, and HR administration.
• Manage employee relations matters: disciplinary, grievances, absence management, investigations, performance cases.
• Ensure compliance with local employment laws, tax and payroll regulations, and company policies.
• Support HR programs and annual cycles: performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, engagement surveys, workforce planning.
• Maintain accurate employee records and data integrity in HR/payroll systems.
• Produce HR metrics, payroll reports and workforce analytics.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, pragmatic, and people-focused HR Generalist to support employees and leaders within a global chemical organization. As a trusted HR partner, you will play a key role in delivering end-to-end HR services across the employee lifecycle, including payroll administration, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. You will help ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices while remaining responsive to local legislation, cultural considerations, and evolving business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Acting as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, benefits, payroll, and employment-related matters.
• Managing end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, probation management, contract administration, internal transfers, employee changes, and offboarding.
• Coordinating and administering monthly payroll activities, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in partnership with payroll providers or shared service teams.
• Validating payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, allowances, leave records, and statutory deductions.
• Supporting employee enquiries relating to payroll, compensation, benefits, and HR administration.
• Managing employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, workplace investigations, and performance-related cases.
• Ensuring compliance with local employment legislation, tax and payroll regulations, company policies, and global governance requirements.
• Supporting key HR programmes and annual cycles, including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, engagement surveys, and workforce planning activities.
• Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring data integrity within HR and payroll systems.
• Producing HR metrics, payroll reports, and workforce analytics to support business decision-making and compliance requirements.

About you

• Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices across the employee lifecycle, ideally gained within a multinational, manufacturing, chemical, or other regulated environment.
• Experience supporting or managing payroll processes, with a strong understanding of payroll controls, statutory requirements, and employee remuneration practices.
• Proven capability in handling employee relations matters with professionalism, consistency, and sound judgement.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore and Malaysia employment legislation and regulatory requirements, with the ability to ensure compliance while balancing business needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust across all levels of the organisation.
• Experience using HRIS and payroll platforms, with the ability to maintain data accuracy, generate reports, and leverage workforce insights.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
