Job summary

ECICS LIMITED, a leading general insurer in Singapore, invites an experienced Finance Executive to support daily financial operations, month-end close, regulatory reporting and management reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Finance to maintain strong financial controls in a regulated environment.

The role requires a professional accounting qualification (CA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent) and at least 5 years in finance, with preference for general insurance or reinsurance experience, IFRS

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
• At least 2 years in General Insurance or Reinsurance preferred.
• Experience with insurance contract accounting (IFRS 17) and regulatory reporting regimes (MAS where applicable).
• Experience preparing statutory accounts in an audited environment.
• Ability to work independently in a lean Finance team; proactive escalation when needed.
• Familiarity with Generative AI tools to support finance tasks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate month-end and year-end close: GL review, journal entries, trial balance, accruals and provisions.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure GL integrity.
• Prepare statutory financial statements under IFRS/SFRS(I) incl. insurance contract accounting for review by Head of Finance.
• Perform accounting assessments for insurance/reinsurance contracts and related disclosures.
• Prepare regulatory returns and solvency/capital adequacy submissions.
• Monitor the regulatory calendar and ensure timely filings.
• Review premium, reinsurance, and cash reconciliation work; maintain internal controls over FR.
• Support management accounts, board packs, and ratio analyses; liaise with auditors and tax advisors.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Finance Executive to support the daily financial operations & reporting of the Company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role is critical in maintaining strong financial controls and supporting business growth within a regulated general insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Close

• Coordinate and support month-end and year-end close: general ledger review, journal entries, trial balance, accruals and provisions

• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure the integrity of the GL

• Prepare statutory financial statements under the applicable accounting framework (IFRS/SFRS(I)), including relevant insurance contract accounting requirements, for review by the Head of Finance

• Perform and support accounting assessments relating to insurance and reinsurance contracts, including premium recognition, claims liabilities and reinsurance accounting, and prepare supporting documentation for significant accounting judgments

Regulatory Reporting

• Prepare regulatory returns and solvency/capital adequacy submissions for review and sign-off by the Head of Finance

• Monitor the regulatory reporting calendar and coordinate the required information and supporting schedules to ensure filings are submission-ready ahead of deadlines

• Highlight potential reporting issues or exceptions to the Head of Finance for review.

Review & Controls

• Review premium, reinsurance, and cash reconciliation work prepared by other finance staff for completeness and accuracy before incorporation into the statutory accounts.

• Maintain and evidence internal controls over financial reporting; support external and internal audit requests

• Flag control gaps or single points of failure to the Head of Finance proactively

Management Reporting & Support

• Support preparation of management accounts, board packs, and combined ratio/loss ratio analysis where needed

• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and the outsourced actuarial function on data requests and queries

• Provide accounting and reporting support to the Head of Finance on operational and ad-hoc finance matters.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA,CPA, or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience is essential

• Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in the General Insurance or Reinsurance industry are highly preferred and will be given priority consideration.

• Working knowledge of insurance contract accounting (IFRS 17 or equivalent) and regulatory reporting regimes (e.g., MAS requirements if Singapore-based)

• Experience preparing statutory accounts in an audited environment

• Able to work independently in a lean Finance team, exercise sound judgement within established policies and processes, and proactively identify and escalation issues when required.

• Working knowledge of Generative AI tools and the ability to use AI prompting techniques to support day-to-day finance, reporting and analytical tasks will be an added advantage.
