Job summary

POET TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks an experienced Failure Analysis engineer to support SEM, EDX, FIB, and related FA activities. You will perform high-level analyses, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports for customers and internal teams.

You will lead root-cause investigations, mentor junior engineers, and drive improvements in FA methodologies while ensuring safety and quality compliance within the lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant science field.
• 5–8 years of semiconductor failure analysis experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality management systems.
• Experience with SEM/EDX/FIB and related FA techniques.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in failure analysis activities.
• Perform complex failure analysis using SEM, EDX, FIB, Ion Mill, de-processing, mechanical cross-sectioning, high-power microscopy, and bench testing.
• Lead critical engineering evaluations, root cause investigations, and corrective action recommendations.
• Interpret analytical results and prepare FA reports for customers, management, and cross-functional teams.
• Drive continuous improvement of FA methodologies, procedures, and laboratory capabilities.
• Own and maintain FA laboratory equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Process, Product, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve failures.

Job description

Position Overview

To support in the performance of Engineering functions such as conducting failure analysis using available FA tools, as well as performing quality inspections.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in failure analysis activities.
• Perform complex failure analysis using SEM, EDX, FIB, Ion Mill, de-processing, mechanical cross-sectioning, high-power microscopy, and bench testing.
• Lead critical engineering evaluations, root cause investigations, and corrective action recommendations.
• Interpret analytical results and prepare comprehensive FA reports for customers, management, and cross-functional teams.
• Drive continuous improvement of failure analysis methodologies, procedures, and laboratory capabilities.
• Own and maintain FA laboratory equipment, including calibration, troubleshooting, and capability enhancement.
• Liaise with external FA and testing laboratories for specialized analysis not available internally.
• Collaborate with Process, Product, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve product and process-related failures.
• Ensure safety, housekeeping, and compliance with quality management system requirements within the FA laboratory.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Associate Engineers and Engineers on FA techniques and best practices.
• Support customer escalations and reliability investigations with timely technical analysis and recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the FA Manager.

Requirements

• At least Bachelor or above in Material Science, Physics, analytical Chemistry, or related science.
• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in Semiconductor Failure Analysis, Wafer Fab, or IC Failure Analysis Laboratory.
• Strong knowledge of failure analysis techniques, microelectronics, semiconductor devices, and SI processing.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform and interpret SEM, EDX, FIB, Ion Mill, and Mechanical Cross-section analysis.
• Experience in root cause investigation, failure characterization, and technical report generation.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality management systems.
