Job summary

ASM Singapore is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will work on Windows-based real-time applications controlling robotic, gas delivery, and temperature systems in a highly collaborative, global team.

You should have a strong background in C#, real-time RTOS environments, and multi-threaded software, with 10+ years in software development and a track record in complex systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering required.
  • Strong C# development experience in Windows and real-time environments.
  • Minimum 10 years of software development experience including architecture and design.
  • Experience with machine control software for semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop applications for Windows and real-time operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within real-time control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, electrical, and mechanical issues in complex systems.
  • Lead technical escalations with field engineers and global customers.
  • Collaborate with QA and Support to improve regression test coverage.

Job's mission

As part of ASM's Software Engineering team, you'll develop advanced control software that powers some of theworld's most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Your work will directly support robotics,
gas delivery systems, temperature control hardware, and factory automation, delivering real-time solutionsthat drive chip production. Based in Singapore, you'll collaborate with global engineering teams and play a key
role in shaping the future of semiconductor automation and equipment connectivity. You will play a key role inadvancing ASM's software engineering capabilities through the responsible adoption of AI-enableddevelopment, helping teams accelerate problem resolution, improve software quality, and scale engineeringexcellence across global product platforms.

What you will be working on
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop applications for Windows and real-time operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within real-time control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, electrical, and mechanical system issues.
  • Lead technical escalation eorts with field engineers and global customers.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance and Support teams to investigate issues and improve regression test
    coverage.
  • Author and review software requirements, system specifications, design documents, and test plans.
  • Investigate internal and customer-reported issues and develop eective solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend software engineering tools, processes, and best practices.Participate in system architecture, design, and scheduling initiatives.
  • Integrate and support factory automation interfaces, including SECS/GEM and related industry
    protocols.
  • Collaborate with automation teams to ensure reliable communication between manufacturing
    equipment and factory systems.
What we are looking for
  • Minimum a Bachelor's degree or Master'sdegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong software development experience using C#.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, either in a full-stack or systems-focused environment.
  • Minimum 10 years of software development experience, including software architecture and system design.
  • Experience developing machine control software, preferably for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with factory automation systems.
  • Familiarity with SECS/GEM, GEM300, and EDA (Interface A) protocols.
  • Experience working with Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, large language models (LLMs), and modern software engineering practices leveraging generative AI.
  • Ability to travel 10-25% domestically and internationally.

  • Knowledge of networking, industrial communications, and EtherCAT.
  • Understanding dynamic scheduling algorithms and deadlock avoidance techniques.
  • Ability to analyze complex system interactions and drive long-term technical improvements.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI, machine learning, or data-driven solutions into productionsoftware systems or engineering workflows.
