Job summary

ASM International in Singapore is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead complex software investigations, influence system architecture, and deliver reliable, high-performance software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

You will work across subsystems, develop multi-threaded applications, apply AI-assisted development practices, and partner with QA and support teams to improve regression coverage and field deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience or equivalent
• Strong software development experience using C++ and/or C#
• Solid understanding of multi-threaded application development

• Knowledge of memory architecture, debugging, and performance analysis

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigations involving software-related safety interlocks and validate corrective actions.

• Drive RCCA using logs, captures, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Design and improve subsystem architectures, including multi-threaded applications.
• Develop, deploy, maintain, and enhance software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues including real-time control systems.
• Serve as escalation point for field engineers and customers worldwide.
• Collaborate with QA and Support to reproduce field issues and improve regression tests.
• Author and review software specs, design docs, and test plans.
• Present findings and data-driven insights to internal teams and customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer at ASM, you'll work at the intersection of advanced software, complex hardwaresystems, and real-world customer impact. Based in Singapore, you will serve as a technical leader, solving
challenging software issues that improve the reliability, safety, and performance of semiconductormanufacturing equipment used by customers around the globe.

In this role, you'll lead complex investigations, influence system architecture decisions, and drive long-termsoftware improvements that support next-generation semiconductor manufacturing technology. You will play
a key role in advancing ASM's software engineering capabilities through the responsible adoption of AI enabled development, helping teams accelerate problem resolution, improve software quality, and scaleengineering excellence across global product platforms.

What you will be working on

• Lead technical investigations involving software-related safety interlocks and validate corrective andpreventive actions.
• Analyze interactions across multiple subsystems to gain end-to-end understanding of platform behavior and workflows.
• Drive Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) eorts using packet captures, log analysis, andsystem-level troubleshooting.
• Design, evaluate, and improve subsystem architectures, including multi-threaded applications and scheduler interactions.
• Develop, deploy, maintain, and enhance software for advanced semiconductor manufacturingequipment.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues, including real-time control systems.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for field engineers and customers worldwide.
• Partner with Quality Assurance and Support teams to reproduce field issues and improve regressiontest coverage.
• Author and review software specifications, design documents, and test plans.
• Investigate technical inquiries and provide clear analysis with actionable solutions.
• Evaluate and influence software engineering tools, processes, and design decisions.
• Coordinate rapid software fixes and deployments in high-impact customer environments.
• Present technical findings, project updates, and data-driven insights to internal teams and customers,including DOE analysis results.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, Master'sdegree with 4+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong software development experience using C++ and/or C#.
• Solid understanding of multi-threaded application development.
• Experience working with software specifications, technical documentation, and APIs.
• Knowledge of software memory architecture, debugging, and performance analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, large language models (LLMs), and modern softwareengineering practices leveraging generative AI.
• Ability to travel 10-25% domestically and internationally.
