Job summary

ST ENGINEERING MARINE LTD. is seeking a Team Lead for Support functions to Ship Repairs projects in Singapore.

You will plan, manage and deploy manpower and resources for painting, cleaning, scaffolding, and security escort of contractors within the shipyard environment. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, liaise with other departments and customers, manage schedules, budgets and safety protocols, and drive project coordination to ensure timely completion.

Qualifications

  • Degree/ Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineering (Dip holders with 5 years relevant working experience)
  • Knowledge of painting, staging operation and able to interpret technical drawings and paint specification will be advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and manage complex technical issues
  • Able to deal with and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders effectively at all levels.
  • Possess man-management experience to supervise and deploy workers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Able to commit to overtime when required
  • Able to follow and implement security, safety and shipyard disciplinary protocols and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Scaffolding Provision: Ensure scaffolding structures meet safety standards and are built to accommodate operational needs.
  • Cleaning/Painting Provision: Understanding various methods of surface preparation, coating material and industrial standards and regulations to painting works.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, maritime laws, and company policies.
  • Security: Provide manpower to escort external contractors from point to point within client's compound; ensure contractors' compliance on security protocols within compound.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and mentor the production team, ensuring effective communication and cooperation across various functions; set performance targets and conduct reviews.
  • Resource Management: Oversee allocation of resources and monitor inventory; procure materials as needed; control department budgets.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work with other department heads and customers; provide regular progress reports with challenges and solutions

Job description

Purpose of Role:

As the Team Lead for Support functions to Ship Repairs projects, this person is responsible for planning, managing and deployment of manpower and relevant resources to provide support for the following functions: Painting, Cleaning, Scaffolding, Security Escort of contractors.

Responsibilities:
Scaffolding Provision

Ensure scaffolding structures meet safety standards and are built to accommodate operational needs.

Coordinate with other departments on timely erection and dismantling of scaffolding.

Cleaning/Painting Provision

Understanding various methods of surface preparation, coating material and industrial standards and regulations to painting works.

Coordination of all painting/cleaning activities effectively and safely.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, maritime laws, and company policies.

Promote a culture of safety.

Provide training and guidance on safety practices for all department personnel

Security

Provide manpower to escort external contractors from point to point within client's compound

Ensure contractors' compliance on security protocols within compound

Team Leadership & Management

Lead, manage, and mentor the production team, ensuring effective communication and cooperation across various functions.

Set performance targets, conduct performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.

Manage departmental schedules, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation.

Resource Management

Oversee the allocation of resources (personnel, equipment, materials) for all production tasks.

Monitor inventory levels and ensure the timely procurement of materials required for ongoing operations.

Control department budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety

Collaboration & Reporting

Work closely with other department heads, Ship repair managers, and customers to ensure smooth operations and project coordination.

Provide regular progress reports, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to senior management

Location: Pioneer Sector (Daily Transportation Reimbursed To and Fro)

5 days work week

Working Hours: 7.45am-5pm
