Job description

Senior Engineer II, Electronics Hardware Design Expert (Solid State Technology)
About the role (Mission)

The successful candidate will be contributing to stepping up team competency in solid‑state technology, technology roadmaps definition, guiding internal and partner development teams, and delivering state‑of‑the‑art application of right solid‑state technology into products aligned with business objectives.

What will you do?
1. Technology Intelligence Development
  • Collaborate with innovation leader and business stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive assessment of state‑of‑the‑art solid‑state technologies— including SiC (Silicon Carbide), GaN (Gallium Nitride), wide‑bandgap (WBG) devices, smart power modules, and emerging solid‑state switching technologies.
  • Monitor global R&D trends, patent landscapes, academic publications, and industry standards relevant to solid‑state power electronics.
  • Contribute to development of technology roadmap aligned with the Company's product strategy and target market segments (industrial power, data centres, AI infrastructure, EV charging, BESS).
  • Translate technology intelligence into actionable investment recommendations and development priorities.
2. Technology Governance & Risk Management
  • Assess technology readiness levels (TRL) for candidate solid‑state technologies before recommending adoption.
  • Define qualification procedures, reliability stress testing protocols, and acceptance criteria for new solid‑state devices.
  • Ensure all technology recommendations comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and EMC standards (IEC 60947, UL 508, EN 61800, etc.).
3. External Partnership Development
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with semiconductor manufacturers (e.g., Infineon, ON Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Wolfspeed, GaN Systems), Tier‑1 module suppliers, and research institutions.
  • Evaluate and manage joint development agreements, technology licensing, and co‑development programmes.
  • Represent the Company at relevant conferences, technical forums, and customer technology events.
4. Product Technology Leadership
  • Lead the technical evaluation, selection, and integration strategy for solid‑state components in control & signalling product portfolio: power supply products, solid‑state relays (SSR), monitoring relays and other ranges to create added‑value to the customer.
  • Define performance targets, design guidelines, and technology specifications for solid‑state‑enabled product generations.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, firmware, thermal, and test engineering teams to ensure sound implementation of solid‑state technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for solid‑state technology to improve product reliability, efficiency, power density, and thermal management beyond current product limits.
5. Contribute to Team Competency Building in Solid‑State Technology
  • Build a solid‑state technology knowledge base for internal use— covering device physics, application circuits, thermal design, EMC implications, and reliability considerations.
  • Conduct technical training workshops, design reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions for engineering teams.
  • Mentor and develop internal engineers in solid‑state design principles and evaluation methodologies.
  • Champion a culture of technology‑forward innovation within the engineering organisation.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Power Electronics, Semiconductor Devices or Applied Physics is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in solid‑state power electronics design, development, or research.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: WBG device characterisation, high‑power converter design, solid‑state relay development, power module evaluation, power electronics application engineering.
  • Track record of taking solid‑state technology from concept through to commercial product release.
  • Experience working in or closely with industries such as power electronics, industrial automation, energy storage, EV systems, or data centre power infrastructure.
