Job summary

The Ministry of Defence of Singapore seeks a senior leader to direct Professional Military Education for mid-level officers, preparing them for higher command and staff roles within the SAF. You will oversee the programming and execution of Command and Staff Courses and build partnerships to keep PME at the forefront of military education.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in defence or security education.
• Experience in designing and delivering adult learning programmes.
• Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking across multi-domain operations.
• Experience leading and coordinating joint/combined training.
• Mentoring and developing directing staff and instructors.
• Ability to translate strategic guidance into curriculum outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and scheduling of course curriculum according to PME standards, military doctrine and national policies.
• Direct PME to develop students' leadership, conceptual, mission, innovation and Joint & Service operations competencies.
• Facilitate strategic discussions, war games, and operational planning exercises to enhance participants' understanding of campaign design and decision-making.
• Establish and maintain student assessment and feedback mechanisms, and endorse reports on course progress and cohort performance.
• Exercise supervisory roles over module Principal Directing Staff, ensuring timely coordination and quality teaching services.
• Lead professional exchanges and initiatives with foreign military colleges and local institutions to strengthen partnerships and sharing of best practices.
• Contribute to development initiatives, such as enrichment programmes, curriculum reviews, academic innovation, reading and writing habits.
• Guide Directing Staffs in their professional development to sharpen instructional methods and content delivery.
