Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/IS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years hands-on DevOps/Platform/ SRE experience.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams or cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong AWS experience (containers, serverless, IAM, monitoring, networking).
• CI/CD design and release automation; IaC tooling knowledge.

Our client is a technology organisation driving large-scale digital transformation through the development of citizen-facing web and mobile products. This role sits within a product engineering team focused on delivering reliable, secure, and scalable digital services that have a direct and meaningful impact on end users.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will take full ownership of cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and platform reliability across the product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and continuous evolution of cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines supporting web and mobile products, anticipating future technical needs
• Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and operations using Infrastructure as Code and scripting, continuously advancing the team\'s automation maturity
• Lead the design and iterative improvement of CI/CD pipelines to optimise deployment speed, consistency, and release reliability
• Establish and operate observability, monitoring, and alerting frameworks; proactively identify risks and resolve incidents before they affect end users
• Champion platform security across access control, secrets management, vulnerability management, and secure deployment practices, embedding these into delivery workflows
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews; drive systemic improvements that uplift overall system resilience
• Partner with software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to remove delivery friction and enable smooth, reliable releases
• Mentor junior engineers, establish operational documentation and runbooks, and promote the adoption of DevOps and site reliability best practices across the team

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 7 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
• Minimum 4 years of experience leading engineering teams, technical projects, or cross-functional initiatives, with a demonstrated ability to independently drive outcomes end-to-end
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS services (including container orchestration, serverless compute, managed databases, IAM, monitoring, and networking/security components) and strong proficiency with containerisation at production scale
• Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and Infrastructure as Code tooling (e.g. Terraform or equivalent), including module design and reuse
• Solid understanding of system reliability, observability, logging, and alerting at scale, complemented by working knowledge of modern application stacks sufficient to collaborate effectively with development teams
• Experience with regulated or governed technology environments, including platform compliance, disaster recovery planning, and production support processes (is a bonus)
