Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a senior Data Engineer on the Knowledge Platform to design and scale data pipelines and models across diverse domains. You will partner with engineering and business teams to translate ambiguous needs into reliable data solutions that enable decision-making and AI-driven insights.

You will own projects end-to-end—from system design to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing data quality improvements—while raising the bar on technical design and ownership in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
• ≥5 years designing and implementing scalable ETL pipelines, incl. batch and streaming with Kafka or Flink.
• Strong SQL, data warehousing, and modelling for BI, ML, and operations.
• Understanding of data schemas (star, snowflake, normalized, denormalized).
• Familiar with GCP and modern data infra tools including Databricks and Airflow.
• Knowledge of data governance, regulatory requirements in finance, and security.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration; experience with distributed teams.
• Interest in applying data engineering and AI in practical ways.
