Job summary

Gentco Logistics is seeking a Senior Data Analyst (PowerBI) to join the Global IT Department, with the core team based in Shanghai and Moerdijk, while Singapore operations expand rapidly.

You will design PowerBI dashboards, maintain data models, and translate business questions into data-driven solutions for operations, finance, and commercial functions. Excellent English is required; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical datasets using SQL + Python to uncover trends and anomalies.
• Design and develop PowerBI dashboards, semantic models, and KPIs for global needs.
• Lead PowerBI requests from senior stakeholders and scope data work.
• Improve data models and transformations on top of data marts (Azure Databricks).
• Identify opportunities for dashboard consolidation and self-service analytics.
• Maintain documentation and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

The Opportunity

The Senior Data Analyst(PowerBI) position is a part of the Global IT Department, which is directly overseen by the Group’s CIO. Our team currently comprises over 40 IT, software, and data professionals primarily based in Shanghai and Moerdijk (the Netherlands).With our IT presence in Singapore rapidly expanding, we are excited to invite you to join our team!

Job Responsibilities

• Use SQL + Python and statistical techniques to analyze historical datasets, uncover trends, detect anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Design and develop PowerBI dashboards, semantic models, and KPI definitions that serve global business needs across operations, finance, and commercial functions.
• Act as a leadpoint-of-contact for PowerBI-related requests from senior stakeholders;translate vague business questions into clearly scoped data work.
• Drive the continualimprovement of our internal data models; own the SQL data models andtransformations built on top of the data marts provided by data engineering(Azure Databricks).
• Proactively identify opportunities for dashboard consolidation,self-service analytics, and improved user experience across our PowerBI estate(~10 workspaces, ~30 semantic models, ~100 dashboards).
• Maintain strong documentation practices and encourage knowledge sharingacross teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years ofprofessional experience in data/BI roles
• Strong proficiency in SQL (including data modeling and transformations), PowerBI, and Python
• Comfortable communicating across technical and non-technical audiences; able to translate business needs into data solutions
• Professional fluency in English
• Professional fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage to effectively liaise with Chinese-speaking counterparts.
• Highly motivated, with a proactive approach to project ownership and accountability for outcomes and timelines

DesirableQualities

• Experience with Databricks
• Interest or experience in tank container, chemical shipping, or bulk liquid logistics
