Job summary

Gentco Logistics is expanding its Global IT team and seeks a Senior Data Analyst (PowerBI) to drive data-driven decisions across operations, finance, and commercial functions. You will design dashboards, model data, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex business questions into actionable analytics.

The role requires 5+ years in data/BI, strong SQL, Python, and PowerBI skills, and fluent English. Mandarin is a plus for liaising with Chinese-speaking teams in the group.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data/BI roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL (including data modeling and transformations), PowerBI, and Python.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences; translate business needs into data solutions.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin is an advantage for liaising with Chinese-speaking counterparts.
• Highly motivated with proactive ownership and accountability for timelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical data using SQL + Python to uncover trends, anomalies, and support decisions.
• Build PowerBI dashboards, semantic models, and KPI definitions for global operations, finance, and sales.
• Lead PowerBI requests from senior stakeholders; translate business questions into data work.
• Improve data models; own SQL models/transformations on top of Databricks data marts.
• Consolidate dashboards, enable self-service analytics, and improve UX across the PowerBI estate.
• Maintain documentation and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

The Opportunity

The Senior Data Analyst(PowerBI) position is a part of the Global IT Department, which is directly overseen by the Group’s CIO. Our team currently comprises over 40 IT, software, and data professionals primarily based in Shanghai and Moerdijk (the Netherlands).With our IT presence in Singapore rapidly expanding, we are excited to invite you to join our team!

Job Responsibilities:

• Use SQL + Python and statistical techniques to analyze historical datasets, uncover trends, detect anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Design and develop PowerBI dashboards, semantic models, and KPI definitions that serve global business needs across operations, finance, and commercial functions.
• Act as a leadpoint-of-contact for PowerBI-related requests from senior stakeholders;translate vague business questions into clearly scoped data work.
• Drive the continualimprovement of our internal data models; own the SQL data models andtransformations built on top of the data marts provided by data engineering(Azure Databricks).
• Proactively identify opportunities for dashboard consolidation,self-service analytics, and improved user experience across our PowerBI estate(~10 workspaces, ~30 semantic models, ~100 dashboards).
• Maintain strong documentation practices and encourage knowledge sharingacross teams.

Requirements:

• 5+ years ofprofessional experience in data/BI roles
• Strong proficiency in SQL (including data modeling and transformations), PowerBI, and Python
• Comfortable communicating across technical and non-technical audiences; able to translate business needs into data solutions
• Professional fluency in English
• Professional fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage to effectively liaise with Chinese-speaking counterparts.
• Highly motivated, with a proactive approach to project ownership and accountability for outcomes and timelines

DesirableQualities:

• Experience with Databricks
• Interest or experience in tank container, chemical shipping, or bulk liquid logistics
