Job summary

Digital Edge Data Center is seeking a Senior Counsel, Construction, to support project delivery, construction and procurement for data center facilities. This role is based in Singapore and will work with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and commercially sound contracting practices.

The candidate should have 10–15 years PQE in construction law, with experience in data centers or technology sectors, and be admitted in HK, Australia, Singapore, the UK, or the US.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
• 10-15 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in construction law, preferably with data center or technology industry experience.
• Experience advising on EPC, EPCM, design-build, and multi-package/trade contracting for large-scale infrastructure or data center projects.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills with ability to handle complex transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• English proficiency required; Mandarin or other Asian languages a plus.
• Experience in-house or with law firms supporting data center, technology, or telecommunications clients in construction, procurement, and project delivery matters.
• Familiarity with industry-standard construction contracts and best practices in data center/technology sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, rapidly-evolving industry.
• Strong commitment to professional ethics and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal matters including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and EPC contracts.
• Manage legal risk across delivery methodologies (EPC, EPCM, design-build, multi-package) and tailor contract forms and risk allocation.
• Provide legal support on project delivery and procurement, including drafting and negotiating supply, vendor, and service agreements.
• Develop and maintain a suite of template contracts.
• Manage interface risk between packages and contractors on the same site.
• Advise on JV, consortium, and SPV structures.
• Collaborate with construction, engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Provide regulatory compliance opinions on health, safety, environment, and planning/building matters.
• Manage outside counsel and legal service providers.
• Develop policies, procedures, and templates to streamline contracting processes.
