Job summary

PCCW SOLUTIONS INSYS PTE. LTD. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to design, implement, and maintain database environments across AWS Redshift, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle. You will ensure performance, availability, security, and data integrity while mentoring junior DBAs.

You will lead capacity planning, backups, DR strategies, and upgrades, and participate in on-call rotations to support critical production systems. A strong, hands-on candidate with 5+ years of experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5 years of progressively responsible DBA experience.
• Hands-on with at least two systems (AWS Redshift, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Experience designing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Strong performance tuning skills: queries, indexing, partitioning.
• Knowledge of security, access control, encryption, and audit/compliance.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell; IaC tools like Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Certifications preferred (AWS/Oracle/MaCZA).
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading best practices.
• Excellent written communication; able to document SOPs/runbooks.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain multi-platform database environments (AWS Redshift, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
• Lead capacity planning and cloud resource optimization for AWS Redshift.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
• Plan upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement preventive measures.
• Manage security, access controls, encryption, and data governance compliance.
• Establish and enforce database standards and runbooks.
• Document architecture and configurations; maintain SOPs.
• Automate DBA tasks with scripting and IaC tools; mentor junior DBAs.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems.
