Job summary

Blue Water Shipping is seeking an experienced Senior Chartering Executive in Singapore to source and secure vessel solutions for complex project cargo originating from the APAC region.

You will support project managers with quotations, RFQs, and tenders, and build strong carrier relationships while negotiating terms under supervision. The role demands market awareness, cross‑border collaboration and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics and Supply Chain, Business or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chartering, with exposure to international carriers or freight forwarders.
• Strong understanding of chartering and vessel operations.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across international teams.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and proactive team player.
• Willing to travel internationally when required.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and commercially driven Senior Chartering Executive to join our Chartering department based in Singapore. This role will support Blue Water Shipping's operations by sourcing and securing suitable vessel solutions for complex project cargo, breakbulk, heavy lift, and out-of-gauge transportation originating from the APAC region.

Your Role

• Support Blue Water Project Managers globally with budgetary quotations, RFQs, tenders, and vessel sourcing for out-of-gauge and project cargo shipments originating from the APAC region.
• Review RFQ requirements and ensure all relevant technical and commercial information, including transport specifications, cargo drawings, packing lists, and schedules are obtained.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with MPP, Bulk, Heavy Deck and Semi-Sub carriers worldwide by gaining knowledge about the various carriers preferred cargo commodity and geographical trade areas/lanes.
• Source for suitable vessel solutions and evaluate alternatives based on cargo requirements, routing, schedules, technical feasibility, commercial competitiveness, and operational risks.
• Negotiate contractual and commercial terms with carriers to secure the most competitive solution for Blue Water (under supervision).
• Monitor carrier performance and provide feedback to support continuous improvement within the global chartering desk.
• Develop a strong understanding of the various voyage charter parties such as but not limited to Gencon, Conline and Havyliftvoy and the different contract types.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the different vessel types such as MPP, Bulk, Heavy Deck Carrier and Semi-Sub.
• Participate in relevant industry courses and training to build the required knowledge.
• Analyze market trends and industry developments to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with the APAC and global Chartering teams, providing support across Oil & Gas, Renewables and other project sectors during peak periods.
• Participate in customer meetings, carrier visits, industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events to strengthen Blue Water's market position and business relationships.
• Identify commercial opportunities, market trends, and new carrier partnerships that contribute to the growth of Blue Water's chartering business.
• Collaborate closely with project operations, commercial teams, and global chartering colleagues to develop integrated logistics solutions.

Your Background

• Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics and Supply Chain, Business or any related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in chartering. Previous experience working with international carriers, vessel operators or freight forwarding companies would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of chartering and vessel operations.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse freight markets and negotiate favourable commercial terms.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse international teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
• Self-driven and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment.
