Job summary

SC Shipping Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a chartering professional to negotiate agreements, leverage a global network of ship owners and charterers, and identify new cargo opportunities. The role requires English and Mandarin proficiency, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze market trends to guide chartering decisions.

The candidate should be prepared to coordinate with operations to ensure timely loading/unloading and maintain thorough records.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in related studies.
• Team environment with minimal supervision.
• Experience in chartering is preferred.
• Proficient in English and Mandarin for communication with Mandarin-speaking associates.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform decisions.
• Familiarity with maritime regulations is a plus.
• Willing to be on-call 24/7 for critical voyage operations or emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all charter agreements, communications, and transactions.
• Optimize vessel allocation and performance through regular assessments.
• Monitor vessel performance and address issues during transit.
• Provide regular updates to management on chartering activities and market conditions.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by management.

• Coordinate with operation teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of cargo.
• Maintain accurate records of all charter agreements, communications, and transactions.
• Optimize vessel allocation & performance through regular assessments.
• Monitor vessel performance and address any issues that may arise during transit.
• Provide regular updates to management on chartering activities and market conditions.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the management.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in related studies
• Able to work in a team environment independently with minimum supervision.
• Experience in chartering is preferred.
• Proficient in both English and Mandarin (required for communication with Mandarin-speaking associates).
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with clients and partners.
• Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform decision-making processes.
• Familiarity with maritime regulations and industry standards is a plus.
• Must be available 24/7 via cellphone and committed to working beyond regular hours, including being on-call during critical voyage operations or emergencies.
