NHG Health Infectious Disease Research Laboratory seeks a Senior Research Assistant to advance bacteriology-focused projects in a dynamic team environment. The role emphasizes rigorous laboratory work, data management and collaborative study execution.

The successful candidate will design, perform and analyze experiments, process clinical samples, and contribute to publications while mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with SOPs and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Bacteriology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of laboratory experience in bacteriology or clinical microbiology.
• Proficiency in bacteriology techniques including culture, identification, AST, and broth dilution.
• Experience with MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is preferred.
• Familiarity with WGS methodologies and bioinformatics analysis tools.

Responsabilités

• Design, execute and analyze research related to Bacteriology.
• Prepare, handle and process clinical samples.
• Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing and broth dilution; interpret MIC.
• Design and perform molecular assays (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis, WGS).
• Assist in data analysis, reports and publications.
• Maintain SOPs and risk assessments for the department.
• Plan study logistics and liaise with internal and external parties.
