Job summary

National University Hospital's Department of Laboratory Medicine seeks a Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist/Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead bench work, data analysis and orthogonal confirmation for advanced genomic services.

You will oversee wet-lab processing, library prep, sequencing and validation of test protocols, mentor staff, and collaborate with clinicians to deliver accurate, timely genomic diagnostics within the Genomic Diagnostics Lab.

Qualifications

• Degree in genetics, genomics or related life sciences.
• ≥10 years wet-lab processing experience and verification.
• Hands-on with molecular biology and NGS workflows.
• Experience with ISO15189 and CAP quality standards.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and data interpretation.
• ≥3 years in leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong communication and meticulous documentation for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead wet lab processing for advanced genomic services, including sample processing and sequencing workflows.
• Oversee validation and verification of test protocols.
• Apply scientific principles to troubleshoot and optimize assays.
• Coordinate primary data analysis and SNP-ID analysis.
• Supervise QC programs to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Mentor and train lab technologists/scientists in wet lab and bioinformatics.
• Collaborate with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated service delivery.
• Participate in lab management and strategic planning.
