Job summary

IoTalents Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Backup Administrator (L3) to manage and enhance enterprise backup and recovery across physical, virtual, and cloud environments in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Senior Backup Administrator with hands-on experience across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Must be proficient with Cohesity, NetBackup, Data Domain, tape libraries and Azure Recovery Services Vaults.
• Experience leading upgrades, migrations and enterprise DR activities.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backup Administrator (L3) to manage, support, and enhance enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Cohesity, Veritas NetBackup, Dell Data Domain, tape libraries, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, and SAN switches. The successful candidate will provide L3 support, troubleshoot critical backup issues, lead infrastructure upgrades and migrations, and support enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) activities.

Key Responsibilities

Backup Infrastructure Administration

• Administer and support Cohesity and Veritas NetBackup environments.
• Manage NetBackup Master Servers, Media Servers, and Media Appliances.
• Manage Dell Data Domain backup storage and repositories.
• Administer NBU Media Appliances and enterprise tape libraries, including IBM TS4300.
• Manage backup environments across Windows, Linux, and Unix servers.
• Build, deploy, and maintain backup infrastructure and repositories.
• Support physical, virtual, and cloud-based backup environments.

Cohesity & NetBackup

• Architect, deploy, and manage Cohesity clusters and NetBackup Master/Media Servers.
• Configure and maintain backup policies protecting VMware vSphere, Nutanix, Microsoft SQL, Oracle databases, and large NAS environments.
• Manage NetBackup Storage Lifecycle Policies (SLP) and Cohesity DataProtect policies.
• Perform backup environment upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and lifecycle management.
• Support migration from legacy tape and appliance-based environments to modernized Cohesity platforms.
• Maintain high backup success rates and proactively address failed backup jobs.

Azure & Cloud Backup

• Administer Azure Recovery Services Vaults using the Azure Portal.
• Support backup and recovery for Azure workloads.
• Provision and manage hybrid backup infrastructure targeting AWS and Azure environments.

SAN & Storage Administration

• Configure and administer SAN switches, including IBM 48-port switches and IBM 24-port switches
• Troubleshoot SAN, storage, tape, Data Domain, and backup infrastructure issues.

L3 Support & Troubleshooting

• Act as the final internal escalation point for critical backup incidents.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, performance bottlenecks, recovery issues, tape and storage failures.
• Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and critical production incidents.
• Work with NetBackup, Cohesity, and other vendor support teams on complex technical escalations.
• Coordinate with infrastructure, storage, network, database, virtualization, and application teams during major incidents.
• Support Sev-1 incidents and critical production recovery activities.

Security, Patching & Vulnerability Management

• Support vulnerability remediation across backup infrastructure.
• Lead or support OS hardening, automated patching, firmware upgrades, and platform security activities.
• Maintain secure configurations across Cohesity clusters, NetBackup appliances, and backup infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security and operational standards.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Plan and execute enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) drills.
• Validate backup recovery, failover, and failback procedures.
• Document DR test results and recovery readiness.
• Support recovery planning and continuous improvement of backup and DR capabilities.

Operations & Service Management

• Follow established Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Manage vendor engagement and ensure appropriate technical response and service levels.
• Prepare operational and management reports.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and runbooks.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support as required.
• Coach and support junior team members and peers.
