Job summary

Grab is seeking a senior backend engineer to help design and operate scalable services powering our enterprise APIs. You will collaborate across product, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust, observable systems and strong performance.

You will report to the engineering manager in Singapore and contribute to on-call ownership, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement of development processes to support Grab’s growth across Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with a track record of delivery across teams.
• Proficiency in Go and building backend microservices.
• Experience with relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis) data stores.
• Hands-on with container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh (Istio), and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and operation of scalable backend services and platform components.
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions and drive architectural decisions.
• Ensure high-quality code with testing, performance, and reviews.
• Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to solve complex challenges.
• Improve reliability via monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotation and own production incidents.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Identify improvements to engineering processes and system health.
