Job summary

ScienTec Consulting Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain secure, scalable backend systems supporting mission-critical government digital services.

This contract role emphasizes end-to-end ownership—from architecture and deployment to monitoring and incident response—working with AWS EC2, EKS, VPC and IAM, Terraform/AWS CDK, and robust security controls in a high-trust government context.

Qualifications

• 6–7+ years of experience in Backend or Software Engineering, with proven ownership of production-grade applications.
• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs and PostgreSQL.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, particularly EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM and security.
• Proficiency in Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/AWS CDK and CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of production monitoring, infrastructure automation, security hardening and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable backend applications and REST APIs using Node.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for backend systems, including architecture, development, deployment, monitoring and production support.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS EC2, EKS, VPC and IAM, ensuring reliability, security and performance.
• Implement Terraform/AWS CDK, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes to automate provisioning and deployment.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, security hardening and troubleshooting for compliant production environments.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

• Good understanding of production monitoring, infrastructure automation, security hardening and troubleshooting. Experience in Government Cloud (GCC) or highly regulated environments is an added advantage.
