Job summary

Boku is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Innovation department building a greenfield suite of payment products. You will design and implement high-throughput services using Java and Spring Boot, with an emphasis on reliability, security, and scalable architecture.

The role involves building payout, card processing, and FX systems from scratch, integrating with PCI DSS standards, and contributing to internal tooling and dashboards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in Java/Spring Boot
• Experience building high-throughput, high-availability financial services systems
• Strong understanding of payment system architecture (idempotency, reconciliation, settlement)

Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade services using Java and Spring Boot for high throughput and availability.
• Develop RESTful/gRPC/MCP APIs for payment initiation, callbacks, reconciliation and settlements.
• Ensure observability with structured logging, tracing, metrics and alerting; support CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with offshore teams for code reviews and guidance.
• Contribute to PCI DSS compliant design and secure coding practices.
