Job summary

Reap is seeking a Staff/Senior Backend Engineer to drop into multiple teams, building agentic payment capabilities and shipping end-to-end infra. This roving, embedded role requires adaptability and collaboration across the product, founders, and engineering teams.

You will build backend services in Node.js / TypeScript, work with AWS cloud-native services, and translate the agentic payments roadmap into scalable, secure infrastructure with minimal handholding.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Deep expertise with Node.js and TypeScript and RESTful API design.
• Hands-on AWS experience including serverless patterns and services.
• Strong SQL fundamentals and relational database knowledge.
• Ability to drop into unfamiliar codebases and ship quickly.
• Clear communication and autonomous work in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Embed with engineering teams to build and integrate agentic payments.
• Own end-to-end features across team boundaries from design to production.
• Build backend services in Node.js / TypeScript for high-performance APIs.
• Leverage AWS cloud-native services for scalable, resilient architectures.
• Turn the agentic payments roadmap into shipped infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product, founders, and host teams.
• Use AI tools and best practices to move fast across systems.
