Job summary

AMTSOL ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. seeks a Senior Automation Lead to drive major DCS projects for pharmaceutical clients, with emphasis on Emerson DeltaV and GMP compliance.

You will mentor a team of engineers and guide project infrastructure, network architecture, and hardware deployment in cleanroom environments. You will coordinate with QA, Process, and Operations teams to ensure design specifications, control strategies, and library elements meet client requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years' relevant experience in senior automation roles within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industries.
• Strong design and commissioning experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS for GMP sites.
• Deep knowledge of ISA-88 batch standards and related modules.
• Proven leadership of engineers and cross-functional teams.
• PMP certification would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage automation projects for pharma/biopharma clients, focusing on DCS systems like Emerson DeltaV.
• Mentor automation engineers, senior engineers, and graduates.
• Define project infrastructure scope, network architecture, and hardware deployment in cleanrooms.
• Oversee technical delivery of automation infrastructure and hardware.
• Coordinate with vendors on orders, delivery, and implementation plans.
• Translate client requirements into functional specs and designs for automation.
• Collaborate to design system architectures, standards, and design specifications.
• Provide day-to-day operational support from networking/DCS perspectives.
• Address non-conformance and CAPA activities including root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement of automation systems and project delivery.
• Lead OT network design, deployment, and qualification.
• Establish system administration and maintenance processes.

Job description

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage automation projects for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical clients, primarily involving DCS systems such as Emerson DeltaV.
• Lead, manage, and mentor automation engineers, senior engineers, and graduate trainees.
• Define project infrastructure scope and requirements, including shop-floor network architecture, networking, and hardware deployment in cleanroom environments.
• Oversee the technical delivery of automation infrastructure and hardware systems required by project teams.
• Liaise directly with vendors regarding order status, delivery schedules, and implementation plans.
• Translate client requirements into Functional Specifications and automation designs, while guiding engineers in delivering project requirements.
• Collaborate with relevant teams to design system architecture, philosophies, and standards for Design Specifications, Control Strategies, and library elements.
• Support manufacturing operations from the networking and DCS perspectives based on client requirements, including day-to-day operational support.
• Support non-conformance and CAPA activities, including root-cause identification and resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement of automation systems and provide ongoing operational support.
• Lead the design, deployment, and qualification of OT networks.
• Establish system administration and maintenance support processes and work with the team to deliver the required services.
• Collaborate with Process, Operations, Technology Development, and Quality teams to drive and deliver automation projects.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 18 years' relevant experience, preferably in a similar senior automation role within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong experience in the design and commissioning of Emerson DeltaV DCS projects for GMP manufacturing sites.
• Thorough understanding of ISA-88/S88 batch standards, including Control Modules, Equipment Modules, Phases, Recipes, and Units.
• Thorough understanding of OT networking and virtualisation within pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical environments.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineers and senior engineers.
• Good understanding of pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Strong expertise in automation hardware and networking technologies.
• Emerson DeltaV DCS Batch experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle and quality management processes within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate various parties involved in automation projects and manufacturing support.
• Good understanding of project management processes. PMP certification would be an advantage.
