Job summary

Visa is seeking a Senior Associate Counsel, APAC in Legal to join the Asia Pacific Legal team. You will support Visa’s product and commercial initiatives, provide regulatory guidance, and structure innovative contracts across multiple jurisdictions.

The role requires strong drafting, commercial acumen and the ability to work independently with regional stakeholders. The position reports to the VP, Legal, Asia Pacific, and involves collaboration with teams across Visa and its US headquarters.

Qualifications

• Six to eight years of post-qualification experience in payments and/or technology-related transactions.
• Strong knowledge of intellectual property matters, particularly technology/marketing contracts.
• Excellent academic credentials, including a law degree from a reputable law school.
• Admission to practise law in a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• Good working knowledge of laws/regulations across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
• Ability to manage and drive complex commercial/technology transactions, including international/regional agreements.
• Strong drafting skills with attention to accuracy and risk.
• Ability to engage executive stakeholders with limited supervision while being a team player.
• Clear communication of complex legal issues to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to live and work in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Designing, structuring and developing contracts for Visa’s products, offerings and initiatives.
• Drafting, negotiating and completing complex commercial, technology and strategic partnerships.
• Providing regulatory advice related to Visa’s products and solutions.
• Advising on commercial structures and key legal risks and mitigations.
• Supporting wallet partnerships, tokenization, AI and digital assets initiatives.
• Developing innovative contracting models for product expansion and changes.
• Reviewing legal documents with accuracy and clarity.
• Communicating complex legal matters concisely to stakeholders.
• Working with Visa lawyers across Asia Pacific and the US.
• Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Traveling internationally as required.
