Senior Accountant

Job summary

SPD Scientific in Singapore is seeking a seasoned accountant to manage the full set of accounts, prepare journals, reconcile ledgers, and ensure timely month-end reporting in accordance with IFRS, SRFS and company policies.

You will oversee cash flow, liaise with auditors and banks, help with budgets and forecasts, and provide guidance to junior staff while driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or professional certificate such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in trading & distribution.
• Experience in trading and distribution companies with high-volume transactions.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP B1 preferred).
• Full set of accounts experience and strong knowledge of local accounting standards.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team leader and team player mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare full set of accounts and support monthly close.
• Prepare journals and reconcile general ledger.
• Prepare financial statements and monthly management reports per IFRS/SRFS and policies.
• Manage cash flow and banking facilities; assist in projections.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, company secretary, banks and authorities on audits and tax compliance.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow management.
• Verify staff claims, petty cash and receipts posting; issue payments.
• Review day-to-day credit, collections and payments.
• Review internal controls and address system gaps with workable solutions.
• Provide guidance and training to subordinates.
• Undertake ad-hoc assignments for management.

Job description

• Manage in preparation of full set of accounts
• Perform accounting operational duty such as preparation of journals and reconciliation of general ledger to support monthly ledger closing and reporting schedules
• Prepare financial statements and monthly management report with compliance to accounting standards (IFRS, SRFS) & company policies
• Manage cash flow and banking facilities including assisting in preparation of projections
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, company secretary, insurance, banks and other statutory bodies/authorities on internal and external audit mattes, and all statutory and tax/GST tax requirement compliances
• Preparation of financial budgets, forecast, cash flow management
• Verify staff claims & petty cash
• Verify receipts posting and issue payment
• Review and monitor day to day activities related to credit and collections and payments
• Review internal control and system gaps and providing workable solutions for the business and its operations
• Review and provide guidance and training to subordinates
• Undertake any ad-hoc assignments as when required for the management team

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting or professional certificate such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent
• Over 3 years of relevant experience (preferably in trading & distribution)
• Prior experience in trading and distribution companies (high volume transactions)
