Job summary

The Winstedt School in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Teacher (SEN Support) to work with the Head of School. You will support high-quality teaching, learning and student well-being, aligning with our Vision, Mission, Values and priorities.

You will collaborate with class teachers, TPC staff and school leaders to implement personalised strategies and classroom adaptations that respond to each student’s needs, while fostering independence and confidence.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, Psychology, Child Development or related field.
• Experience working with children or young people with diverse learning needs.
• Understanding of inclusive education practices and student support strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Calm, patient and flexible approach to supporting students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Good organisational and classroom support skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
• Professional integrity and commitment to the values of the School.

Responsibilities

• Support students within lessons to access learning and engage successfully in classroom activities.
• Work with individual students and small groups under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Assist with implementing personalised learning strategies and classroom accommodations.
• Support students with organisation, attention, communication, emotional regulation and task completion where required.
• Reinforce teacher instructions and help break learning into manageable steps for students.
• Encourage student independence, confidence and resilience.
• Promote positive engagement and participation within lessons and school activities.
• Support practical, social and emotional development alongside academic learning.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, TPC staff and school leaders to support student learning and well-being.
• Participate in meetings, training and professional learning opportunities as required.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, staff and parents.
• Contribute positively to the wider school culture and team environment.
• Uphold professional standards and act as a positive role model within the school community.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
