Job summary

The Winstedt School Pte Ltd is seeking an Assistant Teacher (SEN Support) to support high‑quality teaching, learning and student well‑being. You will work with class teachers, Therapy and Pastoral Care staff, and school leaders to implement personalised strategies and classroom adaptations for diverse learning needs.

You will contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment, fostering holistic development and positive engagement across lessons, breaks and school activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, Psychology, Child Development or a related field
  • Experience working with children or young people with diverse learning needs
  • Understanding of inclusive education practices and student support strategies
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Calm, patient and flexible approach to supporting students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Good organisational and classroom support skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well‑being
  • Professional integrity and commitment to the values of the School

Responsibilities

  • Support students within lessons to access learning and engage successfully in classroom activities
  • Work with individual students and small groups under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning strategies and classroom accommodations
  • Support students with organisation, attention, communication, emotional regulation and task completion wherever required
  • Reinforce teacher instructions and help break learning into manageable steps for students
  • Encourage student independence, confidence and resilience
  • Promote positive engagement and participation within lessons and school activities
  • Support practical, social and emotional development alongside academic learning
  • Support inclusive practices for students with diverse learning needs
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with students based on trust, consistency and encouragement
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
  • Support students with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day
  • Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school expectations and student support plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and TPC staff to support student well-being and development
  • Maintain student dignity, confidentiality and emotional safety at all times
  • Support teachers in preparing learning materials and classroom resources
  • Assist with classroom organisation and maintaining an effective learning environment
  • Support supervision during lessons, break times, transitions, activities or school events wherever required
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers
  • Contribute to observations and discussions regarding student development and support needs
  • Help facilitate practical, creative or hands-on learning activities where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, TPC staff and school leaders to support student learning and well-being
  • Participate in meetings, training and professional learning opportunities as required
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, staff and parents
  • Contribute positively to the wider school culture and team environment
  • Uphold professional standards and act as a positive role model within the school community
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and development
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies and procedures at all times
  • Support school activities, events and programmes wherever required
