Qualifications

• Basic digital literacy, including using a computer for admin tasks and communicating with teachers by email or messaging apps.

Responsibilities

• Keep the laboratory safe, clean and tidy, and ensure equipment is ready for use.
• Report faulty machines and place an Out of Order sign until fixed.
• Dispose of broken glassware and breakages following safety procedures.
• Regularly inspect high‑risk items (e.g., data loggers, microscopes) and lock them after use.
• Maintain a stock book and breakage records; flag items needing replacement.
• Check and top up first aid supplies to maintain stock levels.
• Assist Science teachers with lesson preparation and post‑lesson cleanup.

Job Title: Science Lab Assistant (Part-time)
Work Location: 30 Towner Road, Singapore 327829
Salary: S$13/H

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.

Working Hours: 3 days a week during school terms, 16 hours a week in total

• Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
• 2 of the days (for example, Monday and Wednesday): 8:00am to 1:30pm, including a 30-minute break (5 working hours)
• The 3rd day (for example, Friday): 8:00am to 2:30pm, including a 30-minute break (6 working hours)
• The 16 hours may be arranged flexibly, but always within 3 working days a week, and capped at 16 hours a week
• No work on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, or during school holidays (including the March, June and September breaks) or school events and activities

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the laboratory safe, clean and tidy at all times, making sure all apparatus, equipment, materials and specimens are in good working condition and ready for use
• Promptly report faulty machines and equipment to the relevant supervisor, and put an "Out of Order" sign on affected items until they are fixed
• Dispose of broken glassware and other breakages properly, following current safety procedures and regulations
• Regularly inspect Bunsen burners and high-risk items (for example, data loggers and microscopes) to make sure they are in good working condition, and lock them up after use
• Keep an up-to-date stock book and breakage record, and flag items that need replacing to the relevant supervisor in good time
• Check and top up first aid supplies regularly so there is always enough stock
• Assist Science teachers with preparing for lessons and clearing lab equipment and apparatus after lessons, when needed
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the Science HOD
