Job summary

GAIN EMPLOYMENT SERVICES PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to assist in science laboratories. The role includes preparing resources, maintaining materials, and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for lessons.

You will label materials, manage stock, and help dispose of waste while upholding safety standards. This position requires English proficiency and basic IT skills, with preference for prior science lab management experience in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Minimally 'N' Level or equivalent.
• Able to speak and write in English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Must be able to learn new IT skills.
• Candidates should preferably possess Science laboratory management or resource support experience, with experience within a school environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching and learning support such as preparation of resources/materials for science laboratory activities, enrichment programmes and competitions including the cleaning up after laboratory lessons and when required.
• Label and maintain records of existing and new Science teaching and learning materials and laboratory apparatus.
• Ensure laboratory equipment, materials and specimens are in good working conditions. Conduct stock-take at least twice a year. Assist to update the stock record and breakage record to initiate ordering of replacements, when necessary.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste materials such as sharp waste objects and chemicals.
• Carry out housekeeping of the Science laboratories and Science storerooms and to ensure that they are clean and conducive for lessons.
• Ensure safety of students in the Science rooms. Record and report any incidents to Science HOD. Maintain a laboratory incident logbook.
• Replenish laboratory materials and ensure that all the first-aid boxes in special rooms are well equipped with necessary materials and medicine.
• Check that safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency eye-washers, showers and fire extinguishers are working.
• Do filing and general cleaning of equipment.
• Perform any duties assigned by the HODs and Level Representatives.

Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027 with anoption to extend for another year

Working hours:

• Mon, Tue, Fri: 7.00 am to 5.00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Wed, Thu: 7.00 am to 4.30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
