Job summary

sggovterp's School of Engineering invites applications for a Lecturer (Common Engineering Programme). You will develop curriculum and deliver modules in Mathematics, Statistics and Programming to diploma students, and run CET courses for adults.

You will also handle assessments, supervise projects and internships, contribute to research projects, and support pastoral care and outreach activities within the school.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
• Preferably with experience in Mathematics, Statistics or Programming.
• Experience in Data Analytics and data visualisation.

What the role is

School of Engineering - Lecturer (Common Engineering Programme)

What you will be working on

• Develop curriculum and deliver lessons to full-time diploma (PET) students in areas of Mathematics, Statistics, Programming as well as other Engineering disciplines.


• Develop and conduct Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses for adult learners.


• Handle administrative work relating to teaching and managing modules which include crafting and marking assessments.


• Lead or participate in academic research projects, data analysis projects, R&D/Implementation projects and/or poly-wide projects.


• Enhance students' learning through activities such as supervising projects and internships, training students for competitions, and leading them on educational programmes, students' overseas trips or service-learning events.


• Support students in providing pastoral care and guidance.


• Involve in school activities such as outreach events and similar activities.

What we are looking for

• A qualification in Engineering or related discipline.


• Preferably with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in the Engineering field.


• Strong interest in the development of curriculum especially for Mathematics, Statistics and/or Programming.


• Technically competent, as well as have a passion and genuine interest to share knowledge and interact with youth and adults.


• Have experience in Data Analytics (hands-on data manipulation, data modelling and data visualisation).


• Have experience in using Statistical Modelling tools such as R, Python, MATLAB or SPSS and Visual Analytics Technologies such as Tableau or Power BI.


• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with management and colleagues.


• Possess sound planning, organising, writing and multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of commitment and responsibility for completing assigned tasks on time.


• Highly motivated, and able to work independently and in a team.
