Job summary

National Junior College is seeking a dedicated school counsellor for a contracted period from January 11, 2027 to November 26, 2027. The role requires a counselling degree and SAC registration, with English proficiency and preference for Chinese to communicate with parents.

You will conduct scheduled and drop-in counselling, monitor cases, and collaborate with the HOD Student Development and the Case Management Team to support at-risk students and maintain records in line with school procedures.

Qualifications

• At least a degree in Counselling and registration with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC).
• At least one year of relevant counselling experience in an MOE secondary school and/or junior college.
• Receive ongoing case supervision from a trained clinical supervisor. Provide written confirmation from the external agency stating the supervisor's name, training and supervision frequency.
• Relevant counselling certifications and skills.
• Spoken English proficiency; spoken Chinese is preferred for communicating with Chinese-speaking parents.
• Ability to follow school counselling procedures and the Ethical Standards for School Counsellors in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and drop-in student counselling sessions, with consistent monitoring and professional case follow-up.
• Meet the HOD Student Development monthly, provide current information on student counselees and prepare progress updates for at-risk, high-risk and closed cases.
• Prepare for and participate in Case Management Team meetings and complete agreed follow-up actions.
• Monitor and manage the online counselling appointment portal; basic system training will be provided.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and assist with crisis management when required.
• Follow school procedures for staff consultation, parent engagement, counselling records and end-of-contract case handover.
• Safeguard official information and sign the required undertaking; retain school-owned counselling records in school unless permission is given to remove them.
