Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an experienced SAP Technical Architect to provide end-to-end technical architecture and governance across SAP cloud implementations, with a strong focus on SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Integration Suite / Cloud Integration (CPI), SAP Cloud Identity Services – IAS and IPS, APIs, extensions, and enterprise integrations. The architect will work across multiple SAP projects and act as the technical authority overseeing the overall solution architecture, ensuring that SuccessFactors and other SAP solutions are integrated securely, efficiently, and in accordance with SAP recommended architecture and development standards. This is not purely an integration-development role. The individual is expected to understand the complete SAP cloud technical landscape and provide architectural direction to functional consultants, integration developers, BTP developers, infrastructure/security teams, and customer IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall SAP Technical Architecture

• Define and govern the end-to-end technical architecture for SAP implementation programs.
• Provide technical oversight across SAP SuccessFactors, S/4HANA, BTP, Integration Suite, IAS, IPS and other SAP/non-SAP applications.
• Review solution designs and ensure consistency with SAP recommended architecture, security principles and integration standards.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and architectural gaps during design and implementation.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex cross-system issues.

2. SAP SuccessFactors Technical Architecture

• Provide technical architecture oversight for SAP SuccessFactors implementations.
• Understand SuccessFactors APIs, OData services, Compound Employee API, Integration Center, Intelligent Services, MDF, scheduled integrations and file-based interfaces.
• Guide teams on the appropriate use of standard SuccessFactors capabilities versus BTP extensions or custom integrations.
• Support technical design across modules including Employee Central, Payroll, Time, Recruitment, Onboarding, Performance, Compensation and Learning.
• Review technical specifications and integration designs prepared by functional and technical teams.

3. SAP BTP Architecture

• Design and govern solutions implemented on SAP Business Technology Platform.
• Define appropriate use of BTP services including: SAP Integration Suite ,Cloud Integration / CPI,API Management, SAP Build, BTP Extension applications, Destination Service, Connectivity Service, Cloud Connector, Event-based integration services
• Define BTP account, subaccount, environment and connectivity architecture where required.
• Ensure appropriate separation between development, test and production environments.

4. Integration Architecture – CPI / Integration Suite

• Design enterprise integration architecture using SAP Integration Suite / CPI.
• Define integration patterns including synchronous, asynchronous, API-based, event-driven and batch/file integrations.
• Review and guide CPI interface development.
• Define reusable integration standards, naming conventions, error handling, logging and monitoring frameworks.
• Review interfaces between SuccessFactors and systems such as: SAP S/4HANA / ERP,SAP Employee Central Payroll, Active Directory / Entra ID, Payroll providers, Time and attendance systems, Benefits providers, Banks, Government systems, Learning systems, Recruitment platforms, Other third-party enterprise applications
• Promote API-led integration and standard SAP APIs wherever appropriate.

5. Identity & Access Architecture – IAS / IPS

• Own or oversee the technical setup and administration of SAP Cloud Identity Services.
• Configure and govern Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and Identity Provisioning Service (IPS).
• Design authentication and SSO architecture across SAP cloud solutions.
• Configure SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect and certificate-based authentication where applicable.
• Design user provisioning and de-provisioning processes.
• Support SuccessFactors-to-IAS migration and Identity Authentication integration.
• Troubleshoot authentication, provisioning and authorization issues.
• Coordinate with corporate identity platforms such as Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory.

6. Security & Technical Governance

• Establish technical standards and architecture principles across SAP projects.
• Ensure integrations and extensions comply with enterprise security requirements.
• Review authentication, authorization, encryption, certificate management and credential-management approaches.
• Ensure credentials and sensitive information are appropriately secured using SAP-recommended services.
• Participate in technical security reviews and architecture review boards.
• Support audit and compliance requirements where applicable.

7. Technical Design & Quality Assurance

• Review:

• Ensure technical documentation contains sufficient implementation-level detail.
• Conduct technical design reviews before development begins.
• Perform architecture and code-quality reviews for critical developments.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable and supportable after go-live.

8. Troubleshooting & Production Support

• Lead resolution of complex technical issues involving multiple SAP and third-party systems.
• Support project teams during SIT, UAT, cutover and production stabilization.
• Analyze interface failures, authentication issues, API problems, certificate issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Establish monitoring and operational support practices for integrations and BTP applications.
• Provide technical guidance to AMS/support teams for critical incidents.

9. Technical Leadership

• Provide architectural guidance and mentoring to:
• BTP developers
• CPI developers
• SuccessFactors technical consultants
• Integration consultants
• Functional consultants
• Project managers
• Work closely with Solution Architects and Functional Leads to translate business requirements into technically viable solutions.
• Challenge unnecessary customization and recommend SAP-standard approaches wherever possible.
• Support presales teams with solution architecture, estimation, technical presentations and customer discussions.

Required Experience

• Approximately 8–12+ years of SAP technical/integration experience, with significant experience in SAP cloud implementations.
• Strong hands-on or architecture-level experience with SAP BTP.
• Strong experience with SAP Integration Suite / Cloud Integration (CPI).
• Strong understanding of SAP SuccessFactors technical architecture and integrations.
• Experience with SAP IAS and IPS administration and implementation.
• Experience designing enterprise-level integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems.
• Good knowledge of:REST APIs, OData, SOAP,SFTP,XML / JSON, OAuth 2.0,SAML 2.0,OpenID Connect ,Certificates and encryption
• Understanding of cloud security, identity management and enterprise integration architecture.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across application, integration, identity and network layers.
