TECH DATA (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. seeks a hands-on SAP Business Analyst to lead the SAP landscape in Singapore, collaborating with users across finance, supply chain, sales operations and customer service to capture requirements and convert them into SAP specifications.

You will run workshops, write specifications, test outcomes and oversee adoption, acting as the main liaison between users and IT for all SAP matters.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SAP ERP experience in a functional or process analysis role.
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and integration with surrounding systems is advantageous.
• Experience delivering SAP projects through full lifecycle including testing, cutover and post-go-live support.
• Ability to read SAP transactions, reports, and error messages and investigate issues.

Job Purpose:

The SAP Business Analyst is the lead for the SAP landscape in Singapore. The role works directly with users across finance, supply chain, sales operations and customer service to understand how they work today, where the system gets in their way, and what needs to change. It converts that understanding into clear SAP requirements, process designs and change requests that the configuration, development and support teams can act on.

This is a hands‑on role rather than a purely supervisory one. The manager spends time with users in the business, runs workshops, writes the specifications, tests the outcome and sees changes through to adoption. They are the main point of contact between the user community and the wider IT organisation for anything SAP‑related, and are accountable for the quality of analysis, documentation and user support in their area.

Key Responsibilities

Working with Business Users

• Act as the primary contact for business users on SAP process and system questions, building relationships that make people comfortable raising problems early.

• Run requirement workshops, process walkthroughs and interviews to understand how work is actually performed, including the workarounds people have built outside the system.

• Challenge requests constructively, separating what the business genuinely needs from what it has simply always done, and agree a scope that can be delivered.

• Keep users informed on the status of their requests, explaining decisions, timelines and trade‑offs in plain business language.

• Deliver user training, floor‑walking and refresher sessions, and produce user guides and quick reference material that people will actually use.

SAP Process and Functional Analysis

• Analyse end‑to‑end SAP processes across order‑to‑cash, procure‑to‑pay, record‑to‑report and inventory management, identifying inefficiencies, control gaps and manual effort that can be removed.

• Perform fit‑gap analysis on new requirements, recommending standard SAP capability ahead of custom development wherever the business outcome allows.

• Produce functional specifications, process maps, configuration change requests and user stories that are unambiguous to both business users and technical teams.

• Assess the downstream impact of proposed changes across integrated modules and interfaces before design is signed off.

• Work with functional consultants, developers and solution architects to validate that what is built matches what was specified.

Project and Change Delivery

• Lead the business analysis workstream on SAP projects, enhancements and rollouts, from scoping through design, build, testing, cutover and post‑go‑live support.

• Design and coordinate user acceptance testing, including test scenarios, data preparation, defect triage and business sign‑off.

• Support data migration and cleansing activity by defining mapping rules, validation checks and reconciliation criteria with the business.

• Manage the SAP demand and change backlog, prioritising work against business value, effort and risk, and reporting progress to IT and business leadership.

• Plan business readiness for each release, covering process documentation, training, communications and hypercare arrangements.

Support, Governance and Team

• Provide second‑line functional support on escalated SAP incidents, investigating root cause and distinguishing genuine system defects from process or training gaps.

• Ensure changes follow change control, segregation of duties and audit requirements, and that process and configuration documentation is kept current.

• Manage day‑to‑day working relationships with implementation partners and managed service providers, holding them to agreed scope, quality and timelines.

• Guide and develop analysts and key users, setting analysis standards and templates so that documentation is consistent and reusable across projects.

Skills and Experience

SAP Skills

• Hands‑on experience with SAP ERP in a functional or process analysis capacity, with strong working knowledge of at least two core process areas such as SD, MM, FI or WM.

• Understanding of SAP master data structures, organisational design and the configuration levers available within standard functionality.

• Ability to read and interpret SAP transactions, standard reports and error messages well enough to investigate an issue before escalating it.

• Experience of SAP project delivery through a full lifecycle, including testing, cutover and post‑go‑live support.

• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA and to integration with surrounding systems, such as EDI, warehouse, e‑commerce or reporting platforms, is an advantage.

Business Analysis Skills

• Structured requirement elicitation and documentation, including process mapping, functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Fit‑gap and impact analysis, with sound judgement on when to configure, when to build and when to change the process instead.

• Test design and coordination, including UAT planning, defect management and readiness assessment.

• Data analysis and problem investigation, using Excel or reporting tools to trace an issue back to its source rather than relying on assumption.

• Familiarity with project delivery methods, both waterfall and Agile, and with formal change control and documentation discipline.

Working with Users and Stakeholders

• Confident facilitating workshops with mixed groups, including users who are sceptical about system change.

• Able to explain technical constraints in business terms and business priorities in technical terms, and to reach agreement without escalation.

• Patient and credible when training or supporting users, with a genuine interest in how their work gets done.

• Comfortable presenting recommendations, options and status updates to senior stakeholders and steering forums.

Qualifications

• Degree in information systems, business, accounting, supply chain, engineering or a related discipline.

• At least eight years of relevant IT or business analysis experience, including a minimum of three years working directly with SAP.

• Professional certification such as CBAP, PMP or an SAP functional module certification is desirable but not essential.
