Job summary

APP ENGINEERING PTE LTD is seeking a Safety Officer to support the Project Team in implementing Workplace Safety & Health standards across project sites in Singapore. You will ensure compliance with the WSH Act, regulations, client EHS requirements, and company policies to foster a safe workplace.

Key duties include conducting daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, and orientation for new workers, while monitoring compliance with RA/SWP/PTW and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Higher NITEC or equivalent required.
• WSQ Level B certification or MOM-equivalent required.
• Registered WSHO with MOM or eligible for registration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
• Ensure compliance with the WSH Act, WSH Regulations, and client EHS requirements.
• Monitor activities against Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, and Permit-to-Work requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and new worker safety orientation.
• Inspect housekeeping, access/egress, work at height, scaffold use, lifting, hot works, and PPE usage.
• Participate in joint site inspections and safety coordination meetings with main contractor and client.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain WSH records, inspection reports, training records, and statutory documents.
• Promote a positive safety culture and advise on safe work practices.
• Perform other WSH-related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Safety officer shall support the Project Team in implementing and maintaining Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards across project sites. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, client EHS requirements, and company policies, while fostering a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
• Ensure compliance with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, company policies, and Main Contractor/client EHS requirements.
• Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with approved Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and new worker safety orientation.
• Carry out regular inspections of housekeeping, access/egress, work at height, scaffold usage, lifting activities, hot works, and use of PPE.
• Participate in joint site inspections, safety walks, audits, and coordination meetings with the Main Contractor and client.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain WSH records, inspection reports, training records, and statutory documentation.
• Promote a positive safety culture and advise supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
• Perform any other WSH-related duties assigned by Management.

Requirements

• Diploma, Higher NITEC, or equivalent qualification.
• WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) or equivalent recognised by MOM.
• Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), or eligible for registration.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in construction, preferably in M&E projects.
• Familiar with the WSH Act, WSH (Construction) Regulations, and Permit-to-Work systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
