Job summary

TANOKE is a modern Japanese restaurant and sake bar on Purvis Street, offering contemporary Japanese cuisine and warm hospitality. We are expanding and seeking motivated individuals to join our team and build a long-term career in restaurant operations and management.

No prior management experience is required; hands-on exposure to different aspects of restaurant operations will prepare you for increasing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Proactive, responsible and attentive to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working split shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Able to support extended working hours during peak periods and private events.
• Able to commit to a minimum 44-hour work week.
• Immediate availability is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the team in daily restaurant operations
• Welcome and attend to guests professionally
• Learn TANOKE’s menu, sake offerings and service standards
• Assist with reservations, table arrangements and guest requests
• Support private events and group reservations
• Learn opening, closing and cash-handling procedures
• Assist with stocktaking and inventory control
• Support administrative work and operational reporting
• Assist in updating menus and event materials
• Work closely with the kitchen and service teams
• Identify operational needs and take the initiative to assist without waiting for constant instruction
• Undergo training in team supervision, roster planning and restaurant management
