Job description

Prof. Ashok Venkitaraman seeks an exceptionally motivated Research Officer towork in his at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR and enjoythemselves in the dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment of the laboratory.The laboratory works on developing cutting edge technologies to screen and identifynovel therapeutic targets. The candidate will assist in experiments under thesupervision of the project head. These roles will include preparing, planning andperforming laboratory experiments, and accurate recording of experimentalprocedures and results, as well as ordering necessary chemicals and reagents to perform experiments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform cell culture work (cancer cell maintenance, in-vitro assays, LN2stocks maintenance etc.)
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments (RT-qPCR, RNA preparation, plasmidpreparation, cloning, western blotting, gene-editing using CRISPR)
  • Cell biology methods- transfection methods (siRNA, plasmid transfection andelectroporation)
  • Prepare lab reagents, chemicals, instruments and equipment
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Able to work efficiently and enthusiastically as part of the team
  • Capacity for problem solving
  • Maintains detailed laboratory notebook

Candidates may have a degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
