Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) invites applications for a Research Fellow to advance thermal technologies for solid waste valorization. The candidate will design and test prototypes, characterize catalysts and materials, and report results to stakeholders while pursuing high-impact research outputs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering/Science or related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in pyrolysis, carbon capture, solid carbon and hydrogen generation.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques for solid/liquid characterization.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in design of experiments, interpretation of experimental results, writing papers/reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental work on thermal waste treatment technologies (pyrolysis, carbon capture, solid carbon and hydrogen generation).
• Design, procure, install and operate experimental prototypes.
• Investigate performance of catalysts, system configuration and process conditions that influence the yield and quality of outputs from waste.
• Develop improvements in catalyst formulation and system design to mitigate the factors decreasing quality and yield of outputs.
• Characterize samples and interpret the results (N2 adsorption, Raman, FESEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, TGA, TPO, TPR, GC-MS, etc.).
• Liaise with project collaborators.
• Publish research papers and document developed intellectual property.
• Report the progress to stakeholders (internal and external).
