Job summary

NTU NEWRI invites applications for a Research Fellow to develop and test thermal technologies for solid waste valorization in a laboratory setting, focusing on heterogeneous catalysis, pyrolysis and carbon capture. You will design experiments, evaluate catalysts, and contribute to project outcomes.

You will publish findings, report to stakeholders, and collaborate with external partners; a PhD and hands-on experience in the field are required, with entry-level candidates welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering/Science or related field.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in pyrolysis, carbon capture, solid carbon and hydrogen generation.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques for solid/liquid characterization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental work on thermal waste treatment technologies (pyrolysis, carbon capture, solid carbon and hydrogen generation).
  • Design, procure, install and operate experimental prototypes; Investigate performance of catalysts, system configuration and process conditions that influence the yield and quality of outputs from waste.
  • Develop improvements in catalyst formulation and system design to mitigate the factors decreasing quality and yield of outputs.
