Job summary

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow (Project Leader) to drive cutting-edge single-photon LiDAR research. The role involves integrating detector modules, time-tagging workflows, and synchronizing electronics to deliver advanced imaging capabilities.

The successful candidate will design experiments, develop processing pipelines, and collaborate across teams to publish results and contribute IP, with a strong emphasis on low-photon regime

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Optical/Photonic Engineering, Information Science or closely related discipline.
• Strong research background in optical/laser setups and scanning systems with alignment and throughput optimization.
• Proven publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in optical imaging setups including low-photon detectors and timing/synchronization.
• Familiarity with single-photon detection concepts and time-of-flight measurements.
• Proficient in instrument control scripting (Python/Matlab/LabVIEW).
• Experience in real-time processing, FPGA prototyping, or embedded sensing architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and align a single-photon-enabled scanning microscope with detector modules.
• Develop imaging protocols and benchmark sensitivity, resolution, and acquisition strategies.
• Develop data-processing workflows for single-photon LiDAR with low-latency requirements.
• Create hardware-software co-design for real-time or near-sensor processing pipelines.
• Operate and maintain research laboratories with advanced microscopy and spectroscopy equipment.
• Analyze data, prepare publications, and present findings at international conferences.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on joint projects and IP development.
• Contribute to progress reports and day-to-day laboratory operations.
