Job summary

NTU Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow within the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies. The role focuses on developing single-photon LiDAR systems, integrating detectors, and creating time-resolved imaging workflows.

You will drive experiments and collaborate across researchers to push state-of-the-art imaging capabilities. The successful candidate will design optical assemblies, implement real-time data processing, and contribute to publications and IP.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Optical/Photonic Engineering, Information Science or related field.
• Experience with optical/laser setups and scanning systems (e.g., galvo) and alignment.
• Strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience with single-photon detection concepts and time-of-flight timing measurements.
• Familiar with Python/Matlab/LabVIEW for data acquisition and instrument control.
• Experience with real-time processing or FPGA-based prototyping is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative research team; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and align a single-photon enabled scanning microscope and integrate detectors.
• Develop imaging protocols and benchmark sensitivity, contrast, resolution, and acquisition strategies.
• Develop advanced signal and data-processing workflows for single-photon LiDAR and time-resolved imaging.
• Develop hardware-software co-design for real-time or near-sensor processing pipelines.
• Operate and maintain laboratories and equipment following safety protocols.
• Analyze data, prepare scientific publications, and present findings at conferences.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on joint research projects.
• Contribute to progress reports and day-to-day laboratory operations.
