Job summary

Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) invites a Research Fellow to advance grid-forming converters, power electronics and energy systems research. You will design, model, simulate, implement and validate converter technologies, and contribute to project proposals.

You will work with PI, graduate students, staff and industry partners to deliver high-impact results and disseminate findings through publications and technical reports.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong research background in power electronics, power converter design, converter control, or grid-connected power electronic systems.
  • Experience with simulation and modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, or equivalent software.
  • Hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, prototyping, lab implementation, testing and validation.
  • Demonstrated research capability through journal/conference publications or equivalent outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct R&D in grid-forming power electronic converters, advanced converter control, and energy systems.
  • Design, model, simulate, implement, and validate power electronic converter systems and control algorithms.
  • Develop and evaluate advanced control strategies for grid-forming converters and converter-dominated systems.
  • Perform experimental testing, data analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Develop simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, or equivalent tools.
  • Design, integrate, commission and test laboratory-scale converter prototypes and platforms.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students and junior researchers as required.
  • Prepare technical reports, publications and project deliverables.
