Job summary

Singapore Management University is seeking a Research Engineer to join the SMU Urban Institute and work with senior researchers on outdoor lane-level and indoor pedestrian navigation projects. You will develop deployable software from GNSS/RTK algorithms, integrate outputs into maps, and build interfaces for navigation solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field; OR a Bachelor's with minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Basic understanding of GNSS/GPS concepts, or willingness to learn RTK concepts and satellite positioning fundamentals.
• Familiarity with version control (Git), basic DevOps/deployment practices, and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Software: create deployable modules from GNSS/RTK correction algorithms and integrate positioning outputs into maps and UI.
• Field testing and data collection: deploy and test navigation solutions across varied venues; process traces for analysis.
• Documentation: maintain technical documentation and assist in project reports and milestones.
• Data management: follow SMU Research Data Management policies and data-handling arrangements.
• Collaboration: work with PhD students, postdocs, and Co-PIs; liaise with stakeholders and government counterparts as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
