Job summary

NTU's Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) seeks a Research Associate to support additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering research. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in additive manufacturing and computational design.
  • Experience in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or biomedical applications.
  • Experience in materials characterization, mechanical testing, microscopy, and image analysis.
  • Experience with CAD, numerical modelling, optimization, or artificial intelligence-assisted design is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Good publication record in relevant research areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering.
  • Design and optimize three-dimensional printed structures using computer-aided design, numerical modelling, data-driven optimization, and artificial intelligence-assisted methods.
  • Develop and characterize bioactive polymeric, ceramic, or composite materials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.
  • Plan and perform additive manufacturing experiments, including process optimization, mechanical testing, structural characterization, and biological evaluation.
  • Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports, journal publications, and research presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, students, clinicians, and industrial partners to support interdisciplinary research activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures.

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) is a research centre conducting fundamental and applied research in all aspects related to additive manufacturing. Our vision is to be the world leader in 3D Printing and a wellspring of knowledge, delivering state of the art and innovative solutions to the industry. SC3DP is at the forefront of developing advanced technologies and high-impact research in areas such biomedical, construction, aerospace, marine and offshore. It is one of the very few research centres globally with multi-sector 3D printing expertise. SC3DP's research achievements, high-level industry collaboration, comprehensive facilities and resources have positioned it as a leading hub for 3D printing research and innovation globally.

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated Research Associate to support research activities in additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering. The role will focus on the design, fabrication, optimization, and experimental validation of advanced three-dimensional printed structures and biomedical devices, including porous scaffolds, bioactive composite materials, and patient-specific solutions.

The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research and innovation in advanced manufacturing technologies by developing novel bio fabrication strategies, computational design approaches, and multifunctional biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The position will also support collaborative research activities with academic and industrial partners, contributing to NTU's mission of advancing cutting-edge research and translational biomedical engineering.
