Job summary

The School of Applied Science at Republic Polytechnic invites applications for a Research Assistant (Food and Agrotech). The role focuses on plant cultivation trials, extraction and bioactivity assays, and data analysis to support funded projects.

You will prepare technical reports, assist with procurement, and collaborate with project leaders to meet deliverables. The position is offered on a contract basis.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Science, Agrotechnology or related disciplines.
• Familiarity with plant cultivation, growth trials, and chemical laboratory analysis.
• Knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of research findings.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated, meticulous, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Conduct plant cultivation trials to access plant growth performance.
• Carry out extraction and bioactivity assays on plant samples.
• Collect, analyse, interpret, and present research data.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Support procurement activities, including sourcing materials, liaising with vendors, and raising purchase requests.
• Work closely with project leaders and team members to achieve project deliverables.
