Job summary

The National University of Singapore seeks a Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Assistant Professor Yassine Cherrak in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. You will design and execute wet-lab experiments, manage bacterial mutant libraries, and perform in vivo mouse studies to explore host-microbe interactions.

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is a 1-year contract with potential extension or progression toward PhD studies.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
• Highly motivated and intellectually curious with interest in experimental microbiology.
• Desirable: experience with microbiology, NGS workflows, or murine infection models.
• Proficient in MS Office and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute wet-lab experiments, including PCR and cloning.
• Construct, validate, and maintain bacterial mutant libraries.
• Perform in vivo studies using murine models for infection experiments.
• Develop in vitro and in vivo models to study host-microbe interactions.
• Analyze microbiological data and prepare results for publications and reports.
• Support day-to-day lab operations and ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee routine lab management, including media prep, sterilization, and inventory.
• Coordinate procurement and provide admin support for research projects.
