Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for the Metabolic Liver Disease Lab in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The RA will contribute to experimental work using functional genomic methods to understand MAFLD mechanisms and to collaborate with pathologists, hepatologists, and data scientists.

Qualifications

• Minimum education with B.Sc. and/or M.Sc in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical or related disciplines with research experience.
• Understanding of the molecular/cellular basis of MAFLD, obesity and T2D, e.g., lipid metabolism dysregulation, insulin resistance, inflammatory pathways.
• Experience handling 2D and 3D cell cultures such as hepatocytes, adipocytes or skeletal muscle cells is essential.
• Basic Molecular Biology skills (RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, western blotting) is essential.
• Experience with gene perturbation tools, such as siRNA, shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 is a strong plus.
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
• Ability to coordinate and work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, optimizing, and validating in vitro mammalian cell-based assays related to metabolic diseases.
• Perform data analysis, ensure data validity, maintain records, and present findings to colleagues.
• Assist in daily lab management tasks such as inventory, media preparation, autoclaving, and ordering.
• Assist in laboratory equipment management.
• Assist PI/RF with ethics/grant applications.
