Job summary

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Research Assistant to join Prof. Hanry Yu's group. The role encompasses AI-driven image analysis, stem cell work, and cross-disciplinary mechanobiology research in a state-of-the-art facility.

The candidate will help optimize organoid and liver-heart chip models, maintain cell cultures, and contribute to safety, budgeting, and reporting activities. Strong collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bsc/BEng/BTech or higher in life science or biomedical engineering from reputable universities or institutes.
• Experience in organoid and stem cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and confocal microscopy imaging.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good team player demonstrated in research teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work across disciplinary boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Assist in optimizing liver-heart chip models for toxin testing.
• Develop AI-based image analysis pipelines for quantitative analysis of biological imaging data.
• Assist in maintenance, expansion, and differentiation of stem cells for ongoing projects.
• Contribute to other mechanobiology, liver tissue engineering, biomaterials and imaging projects.
• Oversee laboratory safety, procurement, budget management, and proposal/report writing for research projects.
