Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) seeks a Research Assistant to join the advanced sensors research team in MAE. The candidate will support multidisciplinary research in biomechanics, robotics, and advanced materials within the laboratory.

Responsibilities include literature reviews, computational modelling, experimental studies with instrumented manikins, materials fabrication and characterization, data analysis and reporting, and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• Knowledge of multi-physics modelling for non-Newtonian materials.
• Experience with 3D printing, sensors, system integration, or experimental testing.
• Familiarity with signal processing, control systems, Python, MATLAB, C++, LabVIEW, or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Support literature reviews on injury biomechanics, physiological effects, computational modelling and related topics.
• Develop and validate computational simulation models for impact and injury prediction.
• Design and conduct experimental studies using instrumented manikins and test platforms to evaluate biomechanical responses.
• Assist in design, fabrication, and characterization of tissue simulants and non-Newtonian materials including 3D printing support.
• Develop and optimize experimental setups, testing protocols and data acquisition systems.
• Analyse experimental and simulation data, prepare technical reports and document findings.
• Support integration of advanced materials and sensing technologies into robotics and interdisciplinary research.
• Inline sensor system development for 3D printing of non-Newtonian materials and optimize hardware for food-grade environments.
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, students and external partners to meet milestones.
• Assist in preparing research publications, presentations and grant reports.
• Maintain lab equipment and ensure safety and best practices.
